Irish parents have selected Morgan Freeman as their most popular choice to read bedtime stories to their children followed by Liam Neeson in second place.
The survey was conducted as part of Bord Gáis Energy’s second annual Little Readers campaign which gives away thousands of free books to inspire a love of reading in young children.
Other findings in the survey showed that 90% of parents start reading to their children before their first birthday – resulting in 90% of under 5’s prefering bedtime reading to TV.
A fifth of Irish under fives have more than 30 books, while almost a quarter have more than 50 books at home.
And those behind the survey found that the younger children are exposed to books and reading, the more likely it is that they will live happily ever after.
